Overall objectives

Support stakeholders (primarily in coal-mining regions) in planning and implementing Just Energy Transition (JET) roadmaps, shifting from an unsustainable, coal-dependent energy system to a net-zero, climate-resilient energy system with reduced GHG emissions; contributing to environmental protection, inclusive and sustainable economic development, and the creation of sustainable employment opportunities in selected coal regions of Viet Nam; and supporting peer-to-peer exchanges, training, and knowledge sharing through the Knowledge Hub.

Specific objectives

(i) Strengthening the capacity of stakeholders in coal regions of Viet Nam in developing and implementing JET plans and policies.

(ii) Strengthening exchanges and reference to international experiences on JETansition

(iii) Updating and disseminating information and knowledge to relevant stakeholders through the development and operation of an online knowledge platform on JET.

ACTIVITIES

The JET IKI project plans a series of activities:

Output 1: The capacity of stakeholders in Viet Nam’s coal-mining regions to design and implement energy transition plans is enhanced through peer-to-peer knowledge exchange at both national and international levels.

Output 2: Dialogue, technical discussions, and exchange of international experience on just energy transition are conducted, with updates on both global practices and developments in Viet Nam.

Output 3: Information and knowledge on the JET transition for coal mining areas are continuously updated and made openly accessible to all stakeholders through the dissemination of project activities and research findings in Viet Nam and the region via online JET knowledge. platform.
