As the first Balcony Solar Systems (BSS) are being deployed in Viet Nam, the Balcony Solar Systems for Viet Nam (BSS4VN) project, implemented under the develoPPP programme funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), was pleased to welcome VTV1 on site to document the installation process and the real-life experiences of participating households.
The report shows how a familiar space like a balcony can become a source of clean electricity, while bringing renewable energy solutions suited to urban settings closer to communities.
It also highlights the potential of accessible renewable energy solutions to contribute to the journey towards the goal of bringing clean energy to 50% of households in Viet Nam.

The Balcony Solar Systems for Viet Nam (BSS4VN) project is being implemented from May 2025 to April 2027.
As part of the develoPPP programme funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the project aims to adapt the balcony solar model, which has achieved significant success in Germany, to the practical context of urban areas in Viet Nam.
The initiative is jointly implemented by GIZ and a consortium of reputable private-sector partners from Germany and Viet Nam. Phuc Khang Corporation serves as the pioneering real estate partner, alongside energy experts and companies including SolarBK, REEPRO, 365Energy, Tona Syntegra Solar, Blueberry Energy, and SmartSolar.
