Following its first episode on Viet Nam’s green hydrogen market, the interactive livestream series “Công Tắc Xanh” (Green Switch) is set to return with its second episode, titled “Sunlight outside, Power inside” (“Nắng ban công – Điện nhà mình”), at 10:00 AM on November 7, 2026. The programme will introduce balcony solar systems, offering urban households an opportunity to access and actively use renewable energy right where they live.
Balcony solar is an increasingly common approach amid growing demand for clean energy and Viet Nam’s ongoing energy transition. This solution creates new opportunities for households to access renewable energy, particularly in urban areas where space for rooftop solar installations is often limited. By making use of balcony space to install solar panels, households can generate part of the electricity they need for daily activities while reducing their reliance on grid electricity.
How do balcony solar systems work? Are they suitable for housing conditions in Viet Nam? What should households consider when installing, operating and using these systems? These are among the key questions to be explored in the second episode of “Green Switch”, featuring experts with extensive knowledge and experience in renewable energy, particularly balcony solar solutions.
The programme will be livestreamed from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on November 7 on the official Facebook page of the GIZ Energy Support Programme. The two guest speakers will be Ms. Nguyễn Phương Thảo, Implementation Manager of the Balcony Solar Systems for Viet Nam (BSS4VN) project, GIZ, and Mr. Vũ Ngọc Ninh, Manager of BKE Viet Nam Trading & Engineering Corporation.

From a project development perspective, Ms. Nguyễn Phương Thảo will share expert insights into the potential of balcony solar power, international implementation experience and key considerations for developing this solution in Viet Nam. From an application perspective, Mr. Vũ Ngọc Ninh will draw on practical experience in providing solar energy solutions for Vietnamese households. Topics such as system selection, installation requirements, operation and essential considerations during use will help viewers gain a clearer understanding of how balcony solar systems can be applied to residential spaces in Viet Nam.
The second episode of the “Green Switch” livestream series is organised under the Balcony Solar Systems for Viet Nam (BSS4VN) project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the develoPPP programme.
The programme aims to provide practical information on how the balcony solar solution works, its benefits, and key considerations for application. This will help Vietnamese households make more informed decisions when considering green energy solutions suited to their living conditions, contributing to Viet Nam’s journey towards its Net Zero target.
