Over 40 participants joined the German Training Week on Green Hydrogen 2025 (May 26-29) to exchange knowledge, network, and explore collaboration opportunities. The event has led to at least 03 potential cooperation initiatives expected to be launched shortly after the training.
Participants included representatives from the Department of Oil, Gas and Coal of Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnamese companies in the fertilizer, chemical, and steel sectors, German energy solution providers, and project developers.
The training covered key topics in green hydrogen and Power-to-X, from fundamentals of hydrogen production, storage, and sustainability to policy updates, market trends, and flagship hydrogen projects in Viet Nam.
Cutting-edge technologies and service solutions from leading German companies, such as Bosch, Neuman & Esser, Enapter, Enertrag, etc., were also presented, sparking interest and discussions around their applicability in the Vietnamese context.
GIZ also introduced the Green Hydrogen Hub Viet Nam — an upcoming platform based at the Vietnamese-German University and jointly implemented by GIZ, AHK, and a consortium of local and international companies. The Hub will serve as a central point for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and business cooperation on green hydrogen.

Technology & Innovation in Focus at German Green Hydrogen Training Week
Technology took center stage at the German Training Week on Green Hydrogen 2025, as participants engaged with the latest innovations, practical tools and lessons learnt from German counterparts.
GIZ presented techno-economic analyses of real-world green hydrogen projects, prompting discussion on how technical solutions can be turned into viable business models for Viet Nam.
Leading German companies showcased their hydrogen technologies and explored how they can be contextualized for the Vietnamese market:
• Bosch and Enapter introduced market-ready electrolyzer solutions
• Neuman & Esser demonstrated their capabilities as a global integrator for green hydrogen system
• Enertrag shared their Power-to-X project experiences and discussed alignment with Viet Nam’s renewable energy goals.
A hands-on session gave participants the chance to size their own PtX project concepts using a tailored techno-economic tool — turning knowledge into practice.
The training concluded with a visit to Indefol’s green hydrogen laboratory facility — offering a firsthand view of early hydrogen deployment efforts in Viet Nam.

Initial results: At least 03 potential collaboration ideas have already emerged, focusing on technical and financial assessments for green hydrogen projects in the steel, food, and chemical industries.
The German Training Week 2025 created valuable opportunities for Vietnamese and German stakeholders to exchange practical insights and explore how international technologies and experiences can support the development of green hydrogen in Viet Nam.
The German Green Hydrogen Training Week is organized by the Project Development Programme (PDP), implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH under the framework of the German Energy Solutions Initiative, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE).
